We are a consulting company based in Raleigh, NC. The majority of our clients are with the federal government.
We are currently seeking an Editor for our client, Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.
The contractor will provide editing service for scholarly works selected or considered for publication in the International Law Studies (ILS) as well as editing of associated documents and critical reviews of works pending publication decision. Required services will be for a one year with one-year option.
Key Considerations:
The contractor must have highly specialized knowledge of (1) international law applicable to military operations, (2) scholarly citation authority, (3) Naval War College activities, and (4) the subjects presented during 2017 and 2018
conferences and workshops.
Location:
Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.
Specific Tasks:
- Provide 460 hours of editing services, for one year on scholarly works selected or considered for publication in the International Law Studies (ILS) as well as editing of associated documents and critical reviews of works pending publication decision. All articles will be prepared per Harvard Blue Book citation guide.
- Edit Stockton Center workshop summaries. Editing will be for content, format, syntax, style, and consistency per the Stockton Center Blue Book citation guide.
Security Requirements: There are no clearance requirements for this award.

Specifically involves intimate knowledge of International Law to include International Humanitarian Law which is critical to military operations. It is assumed that both U.S. and foreign military and civilian lawyers will be users of this information in the execution of current and future military operations worldwide.

Experience: -
Minimum skill level/number of years of experience editing legal publications: 10 years –
Advanced copyediting skills and abilities to include subject matter expertise and knowledge of citation forms, grammar, and usage required by The Blue Book: A Uniform System of Citation, Chicago Manual of Style, and the Stockton Center’s Style Manual –
Previous service on active duty in the United States military or working closely with United States military strongly preferred. –
Extensive experience handling public international law matters in real-world operational environments
Education:
Minimum of J.D. and LL.M in public international law or related field
