The State of North Dakota is looking for an Information Security Analyst to work with one of the world’s most advanced Security Operations Centers to protect a state network of over 250,000 devices including autonomous farms and smart roads designed to end world hunger, the Nation’s only research environment for beyond line of sight Unmanned Arial Vehicles, as well as the defense forces for 2/3rds of the Nation’s Nuclear Triad. Summary of Work
As a part of the State of ND’s Information Security Division, the Information Security Analyst will work on a team that provides cutting-edge, innovative, and thoroughly vetted finished intelligence products, including high-quality papers, briefings, recommendations, and findings for senior-level government and private sector decision-makers. The Information Security Analyst must be a self-motivated individual who gains satisfaction from providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment with cutting edge technology. This position involves red team exercises, threat intelligence, malware reverse engineering, threat hunts, and purple team exercises.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree/Masters in cybersecurity, information technology or related degree and one year of current and progressive work experience included computer systems security activities.
- An Associate degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or related degree and three years of current and progressive work experience included computer systems security activities.
- A GIAC GCTI - Threat Intelligence, GIAC GREM - Reverse Engineering Malware, GIAC GPEN - Penetration Tester, GIAC GCIH - Certified Incident Handler, and CIAC GWAPT - Certified Web Application Penetration Tester certifications or similar certification and four year of current and progressive work experience included computer systems security activities.
- Five years of current and progressive work experience included computer systems security activities.
Tasks and Duties
- Utilize cyber threat intelligence to plan and develop a threat hunting strategy that will enable the Cyber Analysis and Response team to proactively detect and isolate threats that evade existing security solutions
- Provide in-depth reverse engineering of suspected malware to derive threat intelligence, support the response of cybersecurity incidents, and identify mitigations to fortify enterprise defenses
- Combine threat intel and exploitation analysis to perform planned and authorized testing of computer systems, networks, and web applications
- Determine vulnerability scores, impact to systems and provides threat education/awareness to North Dakota government entities, agencies, and divisions
- Mentor and coach junior Information Security Analyst development tasks and understanding of project tasks
- Manage continuous improvement that exceeds customer expectations while assisting the agency in reaching World Class IT service delivery
- Drive innovation thru monitoring and evaluating emerging technologies to determine the impact on services and feasibility of implementation; ensure a high level of technology solutions to best serve customers’ needs
