SUMMARY OF WORK:
NDIT provides specialized technology and support services administering and implementing a variety of enterprise systems and applications. The Radio Technology and Infrastructure Engineer is an exciting position that is empowered to work across a wide variety of technologies including conventional and trunked radio, VoIP radio solutions, computer and radio networks, public safety telephone, two-way-radio, and electronic monitoring devices. The position is responsible for the administration, monitoring, designing, testing, and maintenance of all radio tower locations statewide, radio infrastructure at those tower sites, as well as electronic and digital site monitoring tools, supporting a team of remote field and tower technicians. The successful candidate must be able to make sound decisions with minimal guidance and stay current with trends in this area of technical expertise. The individual must also possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate individuals and create a strong team environment, as well as be able to perform remote troubleshooting on systems and infrastructure and provide remote technical guidance to field technicians to resolve issues.
DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Engineering, implementation, and maintenance of radio technologies at tower sites.
- Design and maintenance of RF tower sites including physical structures, onsite inspections, remote troubleshooting and dispatching of remote field technicians.
- Design, document and implement RF tower site monitoring hardware and software solutions.
- Administer and maintain RF Infrastructure Software Technologies, such as Motorola PRNM Suite, Console Systems, and ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment.
- Develop and maintain documentation including architectural and engineering documents for the SIRN management systems.
- Research, evaluate, program and support radio equipment for State entities.
- Communicate highly technical information in both oral and written communications to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with vendors, research articles, and perform testing to identify solutions that align with the long-term vision for the SIRN.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication systems, electronics, or related degree and one year of current and progressive work experience including communication/radio systems, towers, generators, HVAC, and monitoring systems.
- Associate degree in communication systems, electronics, or related degree and three years of current and progressive work experience including communication/radio systems, towers, generators, HVAC, and monitoring systems.
- Five years of current and progressive work experience including communication/radio systems, towers, generators, HVAC, and monitoring systems.
