Primary Focus
Monitors, inspects, maintains, and repairs the City's electrical infrastructure. Monitors and interacts with contractual service providers engaged in the maintenance and repair of electrical infrastructure. Collaborates with Engineering Project Inspectors in the inspection of electrical projects completed by contractual service providers to ensure compliance with City standards, practices, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, classes/training in electronic and electrical systems, and considerable experience with electrical systems (experience with traffic signal cabinets and solar powered systems preferred); or any equivalent combination of accepted education and experience.

Traffic Signal Technician Level I or ability to obtain within one year of hire; Traffic Signal Bench Technician Level II or Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II or ability to obtain within two years of hire.

Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in electrical and electronic trade work.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary in electrical circuits and wiring systems.

Skill in the use of safety equipment.

Ability to set up work zones and direct traffic preferred.

Physical Requirements
Ability to perform maintenance and repair tasks, often from heights in a bucket truck, at times out of doors under a variety of climatic and temperature conditions, sometimes in hazardous areas and conditions, often in areas of moving traffic.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for operational equipment and materials.

Physical strength, agility, and endurance to perform all essential functions.

Special Requirements
Serving in on-call status once every four weeks. If called in during such situations, must report to work within 35 minutes of call per collective bargaining agreement.

Valid Class B Ohio Commercial Driver's License and a safe driving record.
