DC Clean Rivers Public Outreach Coordinator
DP Consultants Inc. is a communications and public engagement firm supporting major economic development programs and infrastructure improvement projects. We are searching for a talented Public Outreach Coordinator to join our DC Water Clean Rivers Tunnel Project team to plan and manage essential outreach to interested and impacted stakeholders, communities, and the general public. You will work with client management and technical teams to develop and implement strategic public engagement initiatives. You need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven with a positive attitude and readiness to be a team player to take on this exciting role. Currently, the DC Clean Rivers Public Outreach Coordinator is a full-time position funded for 8 months (the end of the DC Water fiscal year). However, at the end of that period, the project may be extended or a similar position with one or more other DP Consultants projects may be available.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare, update, and implement an annual Communications and Community Outreach Plan
- Act as liaison to impacted neighborhoods and the interested general public on behalf of the client and project
- Facilitate regular information sharing forums and meetings in the community and educate team members on community responsibility
- Support the organization of special events and other project initiatives
- Develop and maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other engagement opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with impacted neighborhood, business, and civic associations and local officials.
- Create and distribute project collateral marketing materials
- Prepare regular reports, and outreach materials, including traffic advisories, newsletters, social media content, and presentations
- Develop and implement strategic public engagement and communication plans that build support among diverse stakeholders and communities
Requirements:
- 5 years community outreach or public engagement experience or customer service skills
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Understanding of construction project-related impacts preferred
- Outstanding written communication and oral presentation skills are essential
- Strong experience preparing reports
- Strong knowledge of graphic design, social media, and other basic marketing platforms
- Excellent ability to manage multiple project elements simultaneously
- Demonstrated strong computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Internet Knowledge
- Experience working with diverse District of Columbia communities a plus
- Bilingual Spanish and English welcomed
- Solid experience preparing outreach collateral materials, including traffic advisories, newsletters, social media content, presentations
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in community outreach/public relations and project management
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, or related fields
