Operator Technician

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Operator Technician will participate in the maintenance, repair, and operation of complex underwater search and recovery systems and subsystems. This person is required to work in a team environment and to travel worldwide on an emergency call basis. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports directly to the Lead Operations Technician.
CLASSIFICATION:NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting complex search (side scan sonar), recovery (remotely operated vehicle (ROV)) systems, and their launch and recovery systems (LARS) in the ready for issue (RFI) condition and in the offshore environment
- Maintenance and operation of all deck
- Maintain logs, records, and documentation
- Operate and fly side scan sonar or other towed
- Pilot and copilot ROVs and operate ROV
- Assist in developing search and recovery
- Assemble recovery rigging
- Effectively handle all watch standing requirements of search and ROV
- Comply with established Phoenix QMS processes and
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree, two years of formal mechanical and hydraulic training, or four years of equivalent work
- Field experience, two years maintaining and repairing diesel generator sets, hydraulic power and control equipment, manipulators, and hydraulic
- Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Familiar with hazardous material handling, packaging, and
- Familiar with hydraulic test sets, flow/pressure meters, and non-destructive
- Computer competence in Windows
- Ability to carry out tests and assignments with little to no
- Team player with attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain a S. Government security clearance.
- Ability to travel worldwide on short notice, for indefinite periods of
- Ability to walk unassisted and carry 75 pounds.
- Ability to see and/or hear equipment
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check, as required
