Assistant Controller
Reports to the VP of Finance. Manages multiple accounting teams administering all accounting processes. Prepares financial statements, forecasting and reports, guiding FP&A, successfully completes month end closings, utilizes accounting systems, guides high level decision making, trains, mentors & delegates, leads annual auditing process, all while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and government regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manages a team of accounting professionals across multiple subsidiary operating companies to accurately administrate all accounting processes
- Prepares individual and consolidated financial statements, forecasts, and ancillary reporting to summarize company financial performance and guide forward-looking decision making including all FP&A activities
- Efficiently drives the month end close process to completion and works across multiple work disciplines to understand and resolve challenges
- Uses detailed knowledge of accounting systems to maintain records and prepare supporting reports for management and operations that guide decision making
- Ensures compliance with US GAAP and applicable government regulations and leads the annual outside audit process
- Trains, mentors, and delegates to junior accounting staff
- Other duties as requested
Essential Job Requirements:
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly skilled in math, accounting and financial processes and associated modern software that enables efficient access to data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Maturity in dealing with confidential information
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Skilled in time management and the ability to independently prioritize tasks for self and team
- Solid understanding of US GAAP
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (master’s preferred)
- At least 8 years’ experience in accounting with strong knowledge of manufacturing, project accounting and percentage of completion revenue recognition
- Advanced knowledge of ERP system philosophy and relational database functions
- CPA or CMA is a plus but not required
