Accounting Technician

This performs a variety of routine to moderate accounting to ensure proper management and reporting of Office of Management & Budget (OMB) fiscal operations. Strong organizational skills are a must. Reports to the Office of Management & Budget Director.
- Assists OMB staff in the preparation of the County budget and budget book.
- Provides support to departments and internally in OMB during the annual budget development process.
- Assists in maintaining a system of budgetary controls prescribed by the Office of Management & Budget Director. Creates, reviews and processes budget transfers and amendments, ensuring compliance with budget programs and long-term planning.
- Inputs data into the County budget ERP/accounting program.
- Monitors County budget for accuracy and compliance.
- Supports various special projects as requested.
- Deposits revenue received by the billing division, as needed.
- Processes non-departmental requisitions and invoices, as needed.
- Ensures online auction revenues/receipts for GovDeals are properly documented and coded for recording in the accounting system.
- Researches and informs budget staff of accounting discrepancies/errors.
- Maintains knowledge of basic budgeting and fund accounting principles and best practices; keeps current on applicable changes in statutes, regulations and pronouncements.
- Works with supervisor, OMB staff, County employees, and members of the public to resolve department issues with tact, customer service and in compliance with County goals and objectives.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one or two years of responsible accounting and/or clerical work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The range for this position is $18.2161 – $27.7178. The County provides a comprehensive benefits program and participates in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and has a 3% employee contribution requirement.
