Job Description
Our search is for a Mechanical Designer that is dynamic and technical, is genuinely interested in the architectural “Built” Environment and excels in the field. This candidate will collaborate with other design engineers, architects, construction contractors and equipment vendors to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and lead the construction administration process. Advancement beyond this role include client-facing/relationship and project management opportunities. Responsibilities
- Design of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) or Plumbing and Fire Protection systems for a variety of commercial, technology and residential projects.
- Create plans, schematics, equipment selection, load calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation and construction administration
- Communicate internally with engineers and external equipment vendors
- Conduct project site surveys, record technical information related to HVAC or Plumbing and Fire Protection systems; assess existing HVAC or Plumbing and Fire Protection systems
- Perform design work with AutoCAD and/or REVIT modeling
- Produce professional design drawings for procurement and installation of systems
- Prepare due diligence and feasibility reports
- Attend meetings with other project consultants
- Work in close contact with entire design team
- Review shop drawings, perform site visits and punch-lists under supervision of senior team members
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, construction, or related discipline preferred
- General knowledge of HVAC or Plumbing and Fire Protection systems in buildings
- Possess a desire to seek professional certification and/or licensure, such as LEED, FE or PE.
- Ability to visit construction sites and use ladders to access equipment
- Strong ability to work in changing environments and adapt to varying working environments
- This position will require travel outside the tristate area as needed (approx. 10% of the time)
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle transportation preferred
