Field Service Technician and Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and provide updates to Optomec systems at customer sites
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues onsite and by phone, email, and chat
  • Provide training in best practices to on-site personnel
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers
  • Keep records of customer interactions, technical issues, and resolutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical problems
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve products and services
  • Maintain AJ and facility equipment at Optomec’s St. Paul facility

 

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, military E4 or equivalent competency in Engineering, tech support, or a related field. E5 or equivalent preferred for Lead.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of simple DC circuits and test procedures and a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Some knowledge of any computer language preferred
  • Experience in technical support or a similar customer facing role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a customer-centric mindset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Windows environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required by customer needs
  • Able to utilize commercial air, ground and self-driven transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and access components from the floor to a five-foot level
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time during on-site support and system demonstrations
  • Knowledge of Mastercam, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cognex Vision or motion automation a plus
  • Some knowledge of Mandarin a plus
  • Any level of security clearance a plus
